We have much to share with those who follow us. Think about the lessons and wisdom we can bestow as we move on. Alternatively, we can think of legacy projects as chances to reflect on our lives so far. No matter how young, we all have valuable stories to tell. Every year our graduating classes show their appreciation for their time at TCS by donating a legacy gift. Each gift is very thoughtful and a reflection of each graduating class.
Make a Legacy Quilt
Academic equipment, such as computers, textbooks and lab equipment needs to be updated periodically. Senior classes can donate funds to their schools to be used specifically for this purpose. In most cases, a legacy gift is made upon someone’s death, but not always. Legacy giving can take a number of forms, including recurring donations that begin while the donor is alive and continue after they’re deceased. And legacy gifts don’t have to be monetary, either. They can include material goods, property, stocks—anything that’s of value to the beneficiary.
As we walk the halls of TCS, these gifts remind us of all the wonderful children who have made TCS so special. Here are ten meaningful legacy projects for you to work on, create, and craft. A legacy project is some physical thing that you create to communicate your legacy to those who come after you.

Just like any other form of fundraising, if a donor doesn’t see a need to be filled, they probably won’t donate. Explain to your donors the impact a legacy gift would have on your organization and the people you help. Is a donation made by an individual through a will or other formal designation.
Legacy Learning Icon Cards
This Tree Deck will be built around a tree that will provide a large shade leafy "roof" over the deck. An ethical will is a personal (non-legal) document that can be used to transmit values, experiences, and life lessons to your family. Even the events of a child’s relatively short lifetime can make a great commemorative piece.
It’s also a good idea to keep staff and volunteers informed of the impact the person had on your organization and cause. A major barrier to legacy giving is the financial jargon that goes along with it. These terms are important for donors to know, but it’s not your job to explain the specific financial details. Instead, use concise, emphatic language to explain the benefits of legacy gifts for your organization.
Leaving a legacy to your children and family is an important consideration. As you make arrangements for the end of your life, you will be consulting a lawyer, writing a will, signing advance directives, planning the funeral, and more. You should also educate your donors on what a legacy gift is and how they might go about setting one up with their financial planner. Collect these treasures in a special box and consider writing a bit about each one so that future generations can grasp the history and meaning of each item.
